If you have a 2nd Generation tractor, you’ll know how important it is to keep your machine running at its best. However, it can be challenging if you don’t have the right parts. This guide will explain the most important tractor parts needed to keep your 2nd Generation tractors running smoothly.

Here are some of the most important parts of your tractors:

    Engine

    • If you’re looking to improve your tractor, then the engine is one of the most important parts of the machine.
    • It’s what drives your tractor and provides all of its power.
    • If your engine is not working properly, then you won’t be able to use your tractor. Therefore, you will need to have it repaired or replaced if there is a problem.

    Transmission

    • The transmission is the gearbox of your tractor and consists of several gears connected to the engine.
    • The gears in the transmission allow you to change the speed and direction of your tractor.
    • The engine powers all of this, which is why your transmission needs to work so you can use it for different jobs around your farm.
    • If your transmission fails, you’ll have trouble moving forward or backwards, depending on which gear set-up is on your tractor at that time.
    • You should replace a damaged or worn-out component as soon as possible because it can cause serious damage if used repeatedly without being fixed first.

    Brake System

    • The brake system is an important part of your tractor, as it ensures that your 2nd generation tractor stops when you apply the brakes.
    • The brake system comprises several parts that work together to stop your vehicle.
    • These include the brake pedal and master cylinder.
    • The brake pedal is located on the floor of your tractor and connected to other parts by a hydraulic system. When you press down on this pedal, it moves a rod connected to cylinders within each wheel hub assembly, which then applies pressure to each wheel drum or disc brake assembly (depending on which braking system you have).
    • The master cylinder is located in the cab of your tractor and is responsible for sending fluid to all parts of the brake system.

    Steering System

    • The steering system is the mechanism that allows you to manoeuvre your tractor. It comprises different parts, each with its role in helping you steer.
    • The steering wheel, also known as a “steering column”, is located in the centre of your tractor.
    • It has a set of grips on either side that you can use to turn the wheel and adjust your tractor’s direction.
    • The steering wheel connects to a pitman’s arm via a universal joint at one end and then connects with both tie rods at the other.

    Hydraulic System

    • You’ll also need to have a hydraulic system for your tractor.
    • It is used to operate the tractor’s attachments and make them work correctly. The hydraulic system is made up of hydraulic cylinders (used to move many different parts of your tractor, like the wheels or any attachments you may have installed on it), hydraulic pumps (pumps pressurise oil so that You can send it through hoses or pipes, which help operate some of these parts on your vehicle) and hydraulic valves (control how much oil flows through various hoses, which allows you to adjust how quickly they move back and forth when using certain components on your tractor).

    Lighting and Electrical Systems

    • The tractor’s lighting and electrical systems make it easy to operate your machine at night or when visibility is low.
    • The lighting system includes headlights, taillights and turn signals, which allow you to see what’s in front of you while driving around your property at night.
    • The electrical system powers the lights and other components on your tractor. It comprises a battery, alternator and wiring harnesses (which carry electricity from one part of the tractor to another).

    Conclusion

Tractor parts are essential to a running tractor, and you must have a solid understanding of them. The more you know about your tractor and its parts, the better off you’ll be when it comes time to perform maintenance. Parts like the engine, transmission, brake system, steering system and lighting and electrical system are all important, and you will need to keep them in good working order if you want your tractor to run smoothly. Therefore, it’s always wise to keep a few spares on hand so you can solve problems quickly and easily when they crop up.
