Should I Repair or Replace My Van?

If you’ve suffered with an issue with your van, especially if it’s quite an expensive one to resolve, then you’re probably asking yourself, should I repair or replace my van? Whether it needs New Van Suspension or it’s suffering from rusting, you should consider what it costs to repair and the benefits of doing so and what it would cost to replace the van all together

<p>Our blog on repairing or replacing your van is designed to help you make a more informed decision over whether it needs to be repaired or replaced. There are benefits to both options and seeing them clearly laid out will help you to make a better decision over the future of your van.

    Benefits of Repairing Your Van

For any type of issue with a van, the first port of call is to always try and repair it and there’s nothing wrong with that. Depending on the issue, it can be much more cost effective to repair rather than replace your van. Some of the benefits of repairing your van are:

    • Cost – Repairing your van for smaller issues is typically going to be much more cost-effective than replacing the van with a new one.
    • Branding – If you’re a business using a van, then it’s likely going to have some form of branding or advertising on it. If you replaced your van, then you’ll also need to replace this as well.
    • Lifespan – Just because a van has suffered an issue doesn’t mean it’s at the end of its lifespan. Most vans will run easily for hundreds of thousands of miles and be on the road for 10-20 years at a time.

    Benefits of Replacing Your Van

As with anything, sometimes it’s much easier and more cost-effective to replace something rather than repair it and the same goes for vans as well. If you’re van has suffered an issue and you’re considering replacing it, then some of the benefits of a new van are as follows:

    • Warranty – A new van will come with a warranty, giving you peace of mind should any issues occur during the first 2-7 years (depending on the brand) you’re likely to be covered by your warranty.
    • Insurance and Breakdown – Newer vans tend to have much lower breakdown costs compared to older vans and you’ll typically find your insurance is cheaper as well, as the company will know it’s less likely to have issues and it will typically have a better safety rating as well.
    • Environmental Impact – Older vans had less care for the environment and many bigger cities now have things such as congestion charges and pollution charges, which means if you work in or around them, you’ll always have additional cost. Many newer vans now take into consideration these charges and are created with lower carbon emission in mind, meaning you could save money every day by investing in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly van.
