When to Go For Windscreen Repair

When to Go For Windscreen Repair

There are some situations when you will want to go for windscreen repair. And there are some situations when it is better off going for a new windscreen.

In some cases, it is better to go for a new windscreen if the damage is beyond repair. When the crack has reached a certain size, it would be wise to go for a new one instead of trying to repair it. This way, you can avoid further damage and ensure that your car is safe while on the road.

It is also advisable to replace the windscreen if the damage has caused it to lose its structural integrity. It may take some time before you notice this but once you notice that the glass has weakened, then it would be best to get it replaced as soon as possible. You might not notice this but anyone else could cause more damage if they hit your car again.

You should also replace the windscreen if you have had multiple repairs done to it before and they don’t seem to work anymore. Some repairmen will keep coming back until they find something that works but there are some damages that can’t be repaired anymore regardless of how many times you try repairing them.

The first thing you should do is assess the situation. To do this, you will need to look at all angles of the damaged glass and see if it’s obvious whether you need repair or replacement. If there are cracks in the glass, it could mean that your London windscreen needs repair instead of replacement. While cracks are often cause for concern, if they are small then you might not have to worry about them affecting your vision too much. It all depends on the size of the crack and how it relates to your vision through your windscreen.

If there are multiple cracks in different spots on the windscreen, then repairs aren’t always an option anymore. This is because if one crack is repaired, then another crack will appear elsewhere due to the damage caused by the first crack being fixed.

So when should you go for a windscreen replacement? Here are a few examples:

  • If you have a crack in your windscreen that has been there for longer than 3 months – you should consider getting it repaired as these cracks can continue to grow and become more expensive repairs.
  • If you have a rock chip that is larger than 1cm – repair is often the best option as these chips will often drastically reduce your light output through the windscreen and cause dangerous glare from oncoming vehicles.
  • If you have been involved in an accident – repair is almost always recommended as repairing these types of damages are much cheaper than replacing your windscreen with a brand new one.
