    5 Key Tips for a Better, Healthier Start to Your Day

    A healthy lifestyle is built on habits. A great way to build a healthy lifestyle is to start with the beginning of the day. Why? It sets the tone for the rest of your day.

    Mornings can be the toughest part of the day especially if you’re rushing after you wake up. A good start, however, can lead to a healthy and productive day. By taking the time to care for your well-being mentally and physically first thing in the morning, you can gain a great start to each day.

    Start the night before

    Something that is paramount for this productive lifestyle is for you to actually get a healthy start the night before. Mentally prepare yourself the night before. How do you do this? In three simple steps.

    1. Decompress. Find a way to relax your body and your mind. A great way to do so would be to reflect and then write down your experience of the day in a journal. Releasing your thoughts and anxieties, and relaxing your body helps to avoid stress.
    2. Develop a task list. This can actually help you decompress in the evening especially if your mind is preoccupied with something you need to work on.

    Write down the tasks that you want to conquer the next day and realize it’s for the next day. This way it won’t weigh on your mind so much.

    1. Rest well. Sleep is important for several reasons. According to Harvard Medical School, adequate sleep can contribute to your learning and memory, metabolism and weight, moods, cardiovascular health, safety, as well as fight off disease.

    Therefore, make sure you get a good rest for your age group to best prepare yourself for the next day.

    Plan out your day

    A well-structured, detailed plan will help you with your productivity throughout the day. You’ll put your mind at ease instead of wasting energy on dealing with uncertainty and trying to figure out what to do next.

    Any anxiety you might have about the day can cause stress that you do not need. It can steer your ship into stormy waters that will knock you off course. This can alter the trajectory of your progress completely and you do not deserve that.

    If you didn’t get the opportunity to plan your day out at night, plan it out before you begin any tasks. Figure out what your tasks are and prioritize them. With an excellent plan, you’ll stay on task and organized throughout the day.

    Get some good exercise

    A good workout can help loosen your muscles and energize you. Even a morning walk is a good way to boost your energy in a natural way.

    Mayoclinic recommends at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity as the minimum each day. There are long-term benefits but it’s also profitable with more immediate benefits for the day.

    If you aren’t keen on working out in the morning, loosen up with stretching. Stretching prevents tightness in your muscles especially if you do not end up moving a lot as you work throughout the day.

    Stretching keeps your muscles flexible, strong, and healthy. It also helps maintain range of motion in the joints.

    Feed your body

    Consuming a proper, nutritious breakfast can be paramount to your health and how you operate during the day.

    Eat a healthy breakfast, avoiding heavy foods that will slow you down. Include protein in your breakfast to provide your body with adequate fuel to process throughout the day. Fruits and granola are excellent choices to give yourself energy for the day.

    Beginning the day with a balanced and healthy breakfast can propel you to a healthy routine throughout the day.

    Drink water

    Water makes up the majority of our bodily fluids. It is the oil that keeps our engines running throughout the day.

    There are a number of benefits to drinking water after waking up. Negative effects, such as decreased mental performance, that might result from mild dehydration can be remedied with water intake.

    Drinking water can improve brain function, increase alertness, and increase concentration. All these benefits can help you throughout your day and strengthen your body as well.

    Conclusion

    With these steps, you should be able to plan out a successful day for yourself that you can follow and transform into a habit. From there, this can be your lifestyle.

    It is important to take care of your health both mentally and physically. This will help you effectively take care of our daily tasks and enjoy life. Remember, it’s always best to start strong rather than spending a good part of the day attempting to recover.
