Rating of Bérêche & fils wines

The best Bérêche & fils Merlot wines I’ve had recently are 89-91 points. And the worst is 82-85 points. Bérêche & fils produces many outstanding Merlots, and their best one is worth trying but is overpriced by 35% right now in my opinion. Bérêche & fils wines are produced by two generations of wine growers and reflect the savoir-faire of traditional winemaking. By buying Bérêche & fils wines, you experience the various terroirs of Burgundy: a wide range of wines, from dry whites to rich reds, with complexity and character.

Producer Bérêche & fils is based in the Rhone region, France, and is well-known for its consistently high-quality wine. Founded in 1868 by Léon Bérêche and his sons, the winery has been in the family for six generations. Bérèche & fils is a vineyard in Côtes du Rhône. It primarily produces blends of Carignan, Grenache, and Syrah. Unlike many lesser-known vineyards which make some single varietals and little else, Bérêche & fils ‘wines are characterized by their elegance and the finesse with which they have been produced. Bérêche & fils is a winery located in Bandol, France. Founded in 1784 during the Ancien Régime, it was only nationalized in 1963 and then privatized in 1981. It is currently owned by winemaker Etienne Bérêche and his family. The winery’s most successful wine is Bandol Rosé.

Like any good son, Jean-Louis Bérêche wanted to honor his father’s memory with a bottle of wine. Two years after Edouard Bérêche’s passing, the younger Bérêche, along with his brother and son, took the grapes harvested from the vines on their family’s vineyard in La Geria, a small village in northern France, and made a cuvée. Pleased with the results — a crisp white burgundy named after both his parents — Jean-Louis decided to bottle it. In 1979 he sold 400 bottles of this first vintage of Bérêche & fils at his father’s funeral. Today Bérêche & fils is one of France’s most coveted wines.
