Chartered surveyors provide impartial advice to property owners. They offer a wide variety of services that solve different property issues. A surveyor can work in building consultancy. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors registers all surveyors. Even so, many people don’t know what it takes to be a licensed surveyor. In this post, we discuss six qualifications of chartered surveyors in Ireland.

    1. Graduate Route 1

This route suits candidates who have a SCSI/RICS accredited course. You should have a minimum of five years of experience in surveying. The route comprises an assessment interview, a learning period and a written submission. Pick, fill and submit an application form to the Society of Chartered Surveyors in Ireland. You should attach a proof of qualification, a competency achievement plan and pay an application fee.

    2. Graduate Route 2

This is a one-year assessment that people with a SCSI/RICS accredited course and five years’ experience can apply. The Membership Committee should approve all candidates’ experience. APC enrolls trainee members. Graduate Route 2 is competency-based. It comprises a Final assessment, a learning session, and a written submission. Submit your application form with your degree certificate, a competency achievement plan, and a resume. The Education and Membership Department notifies all candidates whose applications it has approved.

    3. Graduate Route 3

Candidates with ten years of experience and a SCSI/RICS accredited course are eligible for the Experience Route. The Membership Committee will approve your experience first. It constitutes an assessment interview and a written submission. Also, it is a competency-based route. Collect the necessary documents from the Society and study them. Attach proof of qualification, a payment slip, a competency achievement plan, and a resume while submitting your application form.

    4. Senior Professional Route

Senior professionals can apply for Society membership through the Senior Professional Route. The Membership Committee evaluates the management and leadership skills of candidates before they approve their experience. Applicants should either be expert specialists or leaders.

You should work in a specific professional role. Choose a pathway that matches your role. The society of surveyors offers relevant documents. Pay the relevant fee, and attach a competency achievement plan, an organisational flowchart and resume to your application form.

    5. Research Route

Surveyors who specialize in analysis and industry research can become chartered surveyors through the Research Route. Seek approval from the Society of Chartered Surveyors before you start the APC. The Research Route lasts for two years. It comprises a competency-based interview and a final assessment.

    6. Academic Route

Surveyors who are in formal employment or academic institutions can use the Academic Route to be certified surveyors. Candidates who are interested in this route can reach out to the Education and Membership Department for inquiries.

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Society of Chartered Surveyors (SCS) accredits degrees that anyone who wants to register as a chartered surveyor should complete. You can also be a surveyor if you have a different degree. But, you are required to take a property degree. It is important to take the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) test.
