Dermal fillers are good for you if you want to enhance your look, slow down the aging signs and have a better-looking skin. The good thing about dermal fillers is how immediate their effects are, and its little or no recovery time. Before getting dermal fillers, it is advisable to avoid certain kinds of food and activities that can tilt the balance of the chemical composition of your body and result in bruising, which is a common side effect of dermal fillers. Listed below are some of the things to avoid before using dermal fillers.

    • Medications and Supplements

Medications like aspirin and ibuprofen that can thin the blood (make clotting difficult) should be avoided a week before getting your dermal fillers. In addition to this, supplements like primrose oil, ginseng, garlic, or anything that contains vitamin E should also be avoided. You should also avoid taking green tea a few days before your appointment. It is also advisable to avoid any supplements that contain caffeine.

    • Avoid Alcohol or Alcoholic beverages a day before

Alcohol is known to cause thinning of blood because of its chemical composition, and this can result in bruising after getting your dermal fillers. However, you can take Arnica tablets days before your appointment, and it helps prevent bruising or swelling afterwards. However, consuming fruits like pineapple before getting derma fillers helps prevent bruising because it contains bromelain that helps to reduce inflammation and swelling.

    • Salty foods

If you’re getting dermal fillers, it’s a good idea to limit your salt intake a few days before your appointment because injectable fillers include hyaluronic acid, which binds to water. Reducing salt intake before and after surgery may assist in preventing bruising and skin irritation.

    • Notify your doctor if Cold Sores

If you observe that there are rashes, blisters or cold on your face or any area of the body you want to inject with dermal fillers, you should notify your doctor so that you can treat them before going ahead with the injection of dermal fillers.

    • Waxing or bleaching

You should also avoid bleaching or waxing the area of your skin that you want to treat at least four days before the process because you are likely to have skin irritation, and it is expected to increase your risk of skin infection.

In addition to these, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding a baby, dermal fillers are not for you, and it is best to put them off until a later date to avoid complications.

Dermal fillers are one of the safest ways to take care of your skin, and to ensure that the process is smooth and without difficulty, you should always take the necessary steps to prepare your skin.
